Be Safe

Where to ride

Safest route

When riding your bike, always choose the safest route. This might not be the quickest, or the shortest. But it will avoid busy traffic and dangerous short cuts.

Don't ride on footpaths or pavements unless there is a cycle track. If you are on a bridleway, pedestrians and horse riders have right of way. Take care when passing pedestrians, especially children, elderly or disabled people, and allow them plenty of room. Always be prepared to slow down or stop if necessary.

Try to cycle on quiet streets and avoid busy main roads. If there are cars parked along the road, watch out for doors opening, or people stepping out.
