Training and Development
During the first year of work with 3M, Engineering graduates will have 2 six month assignments at different manufacturing locations within the UK, before settling into a permanent position at one of these sites. Whilst on these six month placements you would join one of our site teams straight away and be given real responsibility from day one usually including a Lean Six Sigma project. We think it’s the best way to learn the role and allow you to show us your talent. We recruit graduates because they bring new ideas into the team and we foster an environment which listens to what they have to say.

Of course we recognise that on the job training won’t give you everything, so there is also an extensive training package which fits around your site assignment. There is a general comprehensive induction process as well as individual site induction process which aims to give new graduates visibility over all aspects of manufacturing technology.

Alongside this, we have our corporate graduate training programme which is delivered over 18 months, encompassing project management, team building and networking opportunities, as well as ensuring graduates have a full understanding of how 3M functions as a business. Finally, a number graduate group projects support the training and give an opportunity to put new skills into practice. We want our graduates to be future company leaders and the training is focused towards giving you what you need to achieve this.
