Graduate Development & Training

Through our Graduate Development Programme, there are plenty of opportunities for people to learn and grow, something that is vital for our future success, and yours.

3M is not a prescriptive organisation; we do not set the pace of your development. Naturally, there is a framework in place to help you reach a performance level essential in today’s business environment, however it is you who ultimately tailors how much and quickly you fulfil your potential.

Our Graduate Development Programme gives you:

  • Business skills training
  • Specific, appropriate functional training i.e. for IT
  • Your own personal development plan with regular appraisals
  • Encouragement and support for relevant professional qualifications.

Not only will you gain a good overview of the business, enabling you to move across functions at a later stage, but you’ll also build up a great network of contacts and friends to help throughout your career. Training starts with a general introduction to the programme and talks by senior managers and continues throughout your first year.

We receive nothing but positive feedback from both Graduates and their managers regarding our Graduate Development Programme with a few clear highlights: a two-day Leadership & Team Working course at a woodland training centre and a Business Simulation course which helps Graduates to simulate running their own manufacturing business, pitting their skills against other teams and the marketplace. These events not only provide you with high quality business training but also enable you to build a rapport with your fellow Grads swiftly.

We also provide our Grads with the choice whether to undertake a Further Education policy which means everyone is given the opportunity to gain further qualifications, right through to MBAs. In particular, Graduates are encouraged and supported to take the relevant professional qualification including CIPD, CIMA, IMechE and CIPS

Here at 3M, we don’t just provide you with a graduate job, but with a work-life balance that enables you to join a community of similarly minded people who make working here a flexible and delightful experience.
