Job description
3M is always looking for outstanding students to join the IT department. A company revolved around innovation, we rely heavily on IT to drive our business. The IT department keeps our internal clients functioning, providing solutions they need in order to do their business. Every aspect of our business processes rely on internally developed and managed IT solutions. Whether they work in a factory, an office, a warehouse or a lab, our clients rely on us to deliver new and innovative solutions to the challenges they face and IPs will be heavily involved in these processes.

Required Profile
To flourish here are 3M, we want our IT students to be passionate about technology and be able to understand highly technical concepts and communicate them effectively to a non-technical audience. We expect our students to actively seek new IT skills that will enhance their career here at 3M.

There is some other criteria we wish for you to satisfy also:

The right to live and work in the EU
To be on target to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree in a respected subject, backed up by strong A level results (A/B Grades including at least one STEM subject ) or equivalent qualifications.
A UCAS tariff of at least 300 points
Technical Experience which demonstrates a commitment to working in IT. Relevant technical experience could include small application or website development projects, providing IT support to a user community, computer networking or software deployments and can come from academic, recreational or professional situations.
Self motivated individuals who are clear about what they are looking for and are able to take ownership of tasks and their career.
Team oriented. Encourages others and works effectively in a team to achieve the required goal. Able to take on whatever role is required by the situation.
Results focused. Uses own initiative, recognising, creating and seizing opportunities to implement ideas to achieve results.
Project planning and control experience as demonstrated through extra curricular and work experience examples.
UK Driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Training and development
IT placement students join one of our teams straight away and are given real responsibility from day one. We think it’s the best way to learn the trade and allow you to show us your talent immediately. Students bring new ideas into the team and we foster an environment which values what they have to say.

Alongside this, you will join our training programme which is delivered throughout the 12 months, encompassing skills fundamental to succeed in the world of business. Workshops will include sessions on presentation, negotiation and time management skills, as well as ensuring placement students have a full understanding of how 3M functions as a business. We not only stress the competency side of things, but also emphasise the individual and look to help you develop as a person. We want our students and graduates to be future company leaders and the training is focused towards giving you what you need to achieve this.
