3M™ DI-NOC™ Architectural Finishes was the smart choice when refurbishing the reception desk of a school committed to both traditional and contemporary education, bringing a modern twist to classic design.
Sprawling in the Nottinghamshire countryside, Norwood Park is a stunning private country estate with nearly a thousand years of history. The impressive Georgian architecture of the house, built in the 1760s, is complimented by the vast, verdant grounds, complete with orchards, icehouse, lake and ponds. Now predominantly a wedding venue, Norwood Park also hosts private events as well as film and photo shoots.
Over the past twelve years, owners Henry and Georgie Starkey have taken up the task of restoring some of the interiors of Norwood Park. With sensitive, thoughtful interior design the couple are aiming to maintain the building’s sense of grandeur and unique, often eccentric character.
When their latest project required them to refurbish the Country House’s bars in the Anteroom and the Palladian Gallery, they knew they needed to find a solution that allowed them to be faithful to the existing design and architecture while utilising modern restoration methods and materials. With 3M™ DI‑NOC™ Architectural Finishes and accredited installers Swallow Applications, they could do both. DI‑NOC Architectural Finishes come in a range of over a thousand realistically textured and patterned finishes, including natural materials like wood and stone.
The smaller Anteroom bar was refurbished using DI‑NOC finishes, installing a dark ebony wood effect finish on the base and a textured gold finish on the bar top for a striking final effect reminiscent of the building’s rich Palladian design. In the Gallery, the second, larger bar was remodelled using the same ebony wood finish alongside a burnished copper finish on the bar top for a darker luxuriance. These realistic, high‑quality finishes were chosen to help to maintain Norwood Park’s sense of opulence, perfect for weddings and other events. No matter the party, the bar is always a hub of activity.
DI‑NOC finishes are highly durable against scuffs and scratches, perfect for surviving the comings and goings of wedding guests. In fact, it will maintain its high‑quality appearance for up to 12 years, so the owners of Norwood Park won’t need to worry about refurbishment again for many years to come. If the surface does get damaged, it can be easily patch‑repaired without needing to replace the entire finish or fitting, saving time and money. Quick and easy to install, DI‑NOC finishes don’t require specialist tools, equipment or chemicals.
This meant that 3M and Swallow Applications were able to refurbish both bars quickly with minimal disruption to the running of the House. Thanks to the unbeatable high quality, ease of installation and range of designs to choose from, Henry and Georgie were able to choose the best finish for their project, taking advantage of the most up‑to‑date interior design technology without needing to compromise on style or character.
