A precise micron-graded aluminum oxide PSA disc constructed on a durable film backing.

Use 3M™ Trizact™ PSA Film Disc Roll 268XA for damp sanding on a variety of substrates, including acrylic products, solid surface materials and glass. Our 268XA discs are usually used during the middle of a sequence to help bring the work piece one step closer to the desired matt, semi-gloss or high gloss finish. The backing of the discs is water-resistant and can be run wet or dry – this allows the discs to be used for damp sanding on a variety of substrates. When used with water the disc runs cool and debris is washed away that could warp or discolour the substrate. The disc can be run damp but only needs a small amount of water for effective results. Typically, a conventional coated abrasive has an erratically spaced mineral, while our Trizact™ abrasives focus on uniformity. 3M microreplication technology produces an engineered surface of patterned, microscopic, three-dimensional structures resembling pyramids on our discs. As a pyramid wears, a fresh, sharp mineral is exposed to produce a consistent cut and a predictable, fine finish. The continuous sharp cutting action reduces the need to include other abrasives in the sequence – reducing processing steps and enhancing productivity. The film discs have a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing, which makes attaching and peeling off a disc easy. To eliminate the need to remove individual disc liners our discs are available on rolls, allowing discs to be torn off quickly. These discs are used in conjunction with a PSA or 3M™ Stikit™ backup pad (also called a disc pad and sold separately) that is attached to a random orbital sander. They are available in a range of grades, from A5 to A35. Low grades are for a finer finish and high grades for a coarser finish. The discs are colour coded by grade – reducing the risk of selecting the wrong grade in a sequence. Use our film discs as an abrasive for fast cutting action and consistent finishes.
