3M Premium MV Outdoor Cold Shrink Termination - Fully Integrated (QTIII)

Born out of our unparalleled experience in the development cold shrink technology this fully integrated premium cable termination offers the greatest simplicity and flexibility in our range. Our premium termination offers a wide range of cable sizes and types, as well as accommodated voltage up to 69KV. Shorter installation lengths enable this product to fit into a wide range of boxes and fewer installation lengths means there’s a lot less room for jointer error.

To install a layer of scotch seal 5313 masking tape is applied around the cables sheathe for each core the earthling braid is then positioned then fixed in place with a constant force spring. The earthing braids are then pushed into the mastic and secured by a constant force spring a second layer of scotch seal 5313 mastic is then applied over the braid.

The mastic, constant force spring and earthing braid are over taped by a layer of PVC tape to avoid the cold shrink breakout boot from snagging. The cold shrink breakout boot is then positioned and installed with no requirement for heat or tools, its a quicker, easier and more consistent installation is made possible.

Rejacketing sleeves are then slide over each core then on to the breakout boot to create a seal; this seal is supplied on a roll then cut to the length of each core. This enables the installer to adjust the total installed length of the termination. A layer of copper tape is applied to fix the copper screen in place. Then a layer of PVC tape is applied of the Rejacketing sleeve and the copper tape, the semi-conductive layer of the XLPE installation are removed the lug is then installed.

The cold shrink termination body is then installed these products are cold shrink applied, there for quicker, easier and safer than heat shrink alternatives and also i deal for where hot work permits are difficult to obtain.
