WeAreTheCity is an online forum that provides free careers advice and launched the Rising Star awards in 2015 to highlight the achievements of 100 female future leaders and role models across a variety of industries and professions each year.

To celebrate the fifth year of the awards, WeAreTheCity is inviting members of the public to nominate an amazing woman in any of the 20 industry categories. The categories can be found on the Rising Stars website.

In addition, nominations are invited for the Company of the Year, judged on its commitment to supporting the female talent pipeline, and the Rising Star Champion, an individual of any gender who champions gender equality either inside or outside of their organisation.

Entries will be assessed by a panel of independent judges and the public will be invited to vote for the shortlisted candidates.

Last year, Dr Geetha Srinivasan from the Queen's University Belfast; Helen McGloin from Rolls-Royce; Katherine Tobin and Najwa Jawahar from WSP; and Dr Tara Shirvani from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development were the proud winners in the Science and Engineering category. They were named among 100 new Rising Stars created by WeAreTheCity for 2018.

Said 3M Communications and Visual Identity manager, Julie Owen: “As well as championing the role of women across a wide range of industries, the awards help women progress in their careers. Many of the previous award winners have been promoted since winning a Rising Star award.

“Putting a worthy candidate forward for a Rising Star award is also a great way to showcase female talent."

The 2019 winners, Rising Star alumni, judges, sponsors and supporters will be invited to a prestigious ceremony at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Park Lane, London, on 3 July 2019.

This celebration will give guests the opportunity to meet and network with other winners, sponsors and judges as well as enjoy a drinks reception, three-course meal, live entertainment and hear some inspiring speakers.
