    • The Oil and Gas Technology Centre in Aberdeen forms part of the £250 million Aberdeen City Regional Deal created to drive innovation in North Sea oil and gas projects.

This new £180 million cutting-edge research facility was officially opened by Lord Dunlop, UK Government Minister for Scotland, and Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Scottish Government Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy.

Leaders from industry, universities and local councils attended the opening and Ian Constance, chief executive of the Advanced Propulsion Centre, delivered the keynote speech.

In addition Sir Ian Wood and Colette Cohen, chief executive of the centre, gave opening speeches and outlined the centre’s ambition to transform the North East of Scotland into a global technology hub for oil and gas.

3M was invited to exhibit at the opening and will support future projects by sharing its expertise in collaboration and innovation.

Market Development manager for 3M Oil and Gas, Dawn Ricketts, and technical sales specialist for 3M Ceramic Sand Screens, Ian Hunter, attended the opening.

Said Ian: “This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our Ceramic Sand Screens that are highly resistant to erosion and offer superior thermal and pressure resistance to conventional metallic sand screens which are prone to early failure.

Dawn added: “Our exhibits created a lot of interest at the event and we are excited about working with the Oil and Gas Technology Centre in the future.”

Said Malcolm Banks, Well Construction Solution Centre manager for the Oil and Gas Technology Centre: “The launch day was a great success and we have had some extremely positive feedback from attendees. 3M played a big part in supporting the Wells Market Stall and this was very much appreciated.””
