The 3M™ Scotchlite™ segmented silver reflective transfer film 5530 on high-visibility clothing, such as industrial and occupational garments that undergo industrial laundering helps to enhance the visibility of the wearer at night or in low-light conditions. The material shines white when illuminated, even if the wearer is at the roadside. It is comprised of exposed retroreflective glass beads bonded to a durable polymer layer coated with a heat-activated adhesive. 3M's reflective transfer film meets ISO 20471 requirements but easily exceeds the minimum reflections values required at the highest performance level, thus greatly improving the visibility of people. It offers good value for money for high-visibility and occupational garments that require greater durability laundered at home. The segmented reflective transfer film 5530 is easily washable at home up to 60°C (50 cycles as per ISO 20471 depending on substrate). Even when industrially laundered and dried in a tunnel finisher or in an drum dryer, the material exhibits very good wash and chemical resistance (15 cycles as per ISO 15797 depending on substrate) and good abrasion resistance. The reflective transfer film is assimilated through lamination and is thus permanently bonded to the garment without adding bulk.
