3M™ Scotch® Photoelectric Scanning Tape 7800

Scotch® Photoelectric Scanning Tape 7800 is an exposed-lens retroreflective tape with a pressure-sensitive adhesive that is designed for use as expendable code marks in automatic warehouse or conveyor operations. This product affords exceptional contrast with its background for increased accuracy, reliability, and depth-of-field in photoelectric sorting and classification systems and may be employed with automatic on-line applicators or manual dispensers for identification or simple sortation of paperboard shipping containers.

Scotch® Photoelectric Scanning Tape 7800 has an open wide-angle retroreflective system using glass spheres with an open foil surface. Incident light becomes silvery white and is beamed back to the light source. The retro-reflective system is applied on a self-adhesive Paper backing. The reflective foil can be applied manually or automatically. Due to the retroreflection, a corresponding pulse is sent through the reader triggered. The angle and distance to the reader can vary over a wide range.
