Chevron safety markings

• Chevron safety markings are required (or a solid block of fluorescent orange-red retroreflective material)
• Chevron safety markings have to be alternate strips of fluorescent orange-red retroreflective material and fluorescent yellow non-retroreflective material:
  
  - Each at least 150 mm wide
  - Inclined at 45-60° to horizontal and pointing upwards
• Vehicles used for works purposes shall be identified by displaying to the rear “HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE”
• “MOTORWAY MAINTENANCE” may be used instead when working on motorways only
