The 3M High Flow Filter System results from 3M's extensive filtration experience applied to delivering high flow filter technology in a compact design.
3M’s High Flow filter media are available in two options: Standard (HF) and Extended Depth Media (HFM). The HF design is ideal for the removal of general particles and suspended solids. When challenge with filtering biofoulants and deformables the HFM media option with its greater depth filtration capacity should be selected. All versions of the 3M High Flow filters are completely interchangeable, so no matter which filter option is needed during different operational conditions, 3M has you covered.
These high flow filter cartridges offer great particulate removal and surface filtration for a variety of industrial applications.
Featuring a thick media, these high flow filters are designed to filter deformables and organics. They also help prevent premature blinding of the filter’s outer surface, promoting fuller utilisation of the media for an optimal combination of particle removal efficiency and contaminant holding capability.
Each grade of the 3M™ High Flow Series Filters systems is manufactured in polypropylene material. The blown microfiber (BMF) media provides high particle reduction efficiency and a broad chemical compatibility. No adhesives, binders, or silicone are used in the manufacturing process. O-rings are available in a variety of materials to suit your applications. The maximum design flow through the High Flow HF and HFM cartridges is 85 gpm for 10 inch length, 350 gpm for 40 inch length and 500 gpm for 60 inch length filter cartridges. Results will vary depending on process conditions. Ratings from 1 to 70 micron absolute or 5 micron nominal are available. The maximum forward differential pressure is 50psid at 68°F (3.4 bar at 20°C) and the recommended change-out pressure is 35psid at 68°F (2.4 bar at 20°C). Work with your local distributor to find the right high flow filter housing for your industrial filtration needs.
The systems utilise large 6.5” (165 mm) outer diameter compound radial pleated cartridges, delivering flow rates up to 113 m³/hr per absolute rated 60“ (1524 mm) length filter cartridge. The compound radial pleat design delivers a large amount of filter media surface area per cartridge and helps maximise the usable surface area of each filter to ensure that all the filter media is used to capture particles and that there are no “dead zones”.
A range of specifically designed 3M High Flow filter housings are available to deliver all of the systems benefits in a compact footprint for your production site. In addition to the standard Coreline single cartridge housing range, bespoke 3M High Flow system filter housings can be built upon request to a wide range of specification and design and construction standards.
High performance media in a innovative design
3M High Flow filter cartridges feature high efficiency polypropylene microfibre media that provides consistent, predictable particle reduction efficiencies.
Compared to conventional nominally rated 2.5“ outer diameter filter cartridges, 3M High Flow filter systems offer the following advantages:
Available in 10”, 40” and 60” 1-70 micron absolute rated filter cartridges, accommodating flow rates of up to 19.3 m³/hr, 80 m³/hr, 113 m³/hr respectively.
1 Ease of Use
An ergonomically designed handle facilitates fast and easy insertion and removal without the use of special tools. Cartridges are simply inserted over a built-in guide tube. Filter changeouts are also quicker and easier due to fewer cartridges used.
2 Polypropylene Construction
Provides wide range of compatibility with various fluids.
3 Compound Radial Pleat Design
Maximises the usable surface area per cartridge.
4 High Flow
6.5" (165 mm) outer diameter core permits up to 113 m3/hr through a single 60" (1524 mm) length filter cartridge. Seating mechanism uses a 'twist to lock' design to provide a positive seal reducing the possibility of bypass.
3M High Flow filter housings
3M High Flow filter housings are specifically designed to deliver all of the system’s benefits in a compact footprint in your production site. The range is constructed from 316 grade stainless steel (wetted parts in contact) and has a maximum allowable working pressure of 10 bar for use with temperatures up to 120 °C (110 °C for 01HFN Coreline single cartridge housing).
In addition to the standard Coreline single cartridge housing range, 3M High Flow filter housings can be built upon request to a wide range of specification and design and construction standards.
The 3M Hardware team have extensive experience in designing special housings for filter applications. They can produce them to a wide variety of design and construction codes (including ASME U Stamp). Bespoke housings can range from simple modifications of standard designs up to large multiple housing skid mounted units with associated accessories and with both second shell heating jackets and electrical trace heating.
Bespoke 3M High Flow filter housings can be produced from single cartridge units up to housings holding 40 cartridges each. The operating conditions for the housings can be configured to handle liquids at pressures and temperatures according to the customer’s specific needs.
3M High Flow Series Filters feature a horizontal ergonomic design in the 40 and 60 inch versions.
Removing particles as small as 0.5 µm during the prefilter process can pay big dividends down the line – like up to 30% filtration cost savings *
*Compared to traditional 2.5” diameter filter cartridges.
The higher quality of your source water after prefiltration, the better your whole process will be – especially the consistency and quality of your final products.
High flow filtration does some of the upstream heavy lifting (microbial or micro-particle reduction) so your more expensive downstream membrane filters last longer.
When your filters last longer, they require fewer change-outs, which reduces downtime and saves on labor costs. Plus, this filter can do the work of multiple traditional filters, meaning less waste going into landfills.
All of which mean the new 0.5 µm High Flow filter can provide excellent downstream membrane filter protection.
