    • International Women's Day

The theme for this year’s international celebration is ‘be bold for change’ and 3M is embracing this by giving senior female managers from KPMG and Hewlett Packard Enterprise a platform to speak about the role of women in technology.

Other events taking place include lunch and learn sessions for employees as well as panel discussions and quizzes.

The day is also an opportunity to celebrate 3M wining a prestigious 2017 Catalyst Award. These recognise companies that have a proven organisational approach that address the recruitment, development and advancement of all women.

3M was selected for a 2017 award for its ‘I’m in. Accelerating Women’s Leadership’ programme that focuses on the advancement of women and is an important component of the company’s diversity and inclusion strategy.

In Bracknell, Tina Gough, Finance director at Hewlett Packard Enterprise; Lisa Heneghan, global lead for Management Consulting Technology at KPMG; and Jacqui Ferguson, senior vice-president and general manager for Enterprise Services UK and Ireland and Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa at Hewlett Packard are sharing their leadership journeys with 3Mers and external visitors.

Said Avnee Thakrar, senior legal adviser and chair of 3M’s Women’s Leadership Forum in the UK and Ireland: “All three are passionate about driving a more diverse culture across the world of technology and are wonderful role models who have not only achieved leadership positions, but sponsor programmes to encourage more women into the profession.

“We are delighted to be hosting an International Women’s Day celebration for the second year running, continuing on the themes of diversity and inclusion, confidence building, work-life balance and leadership.”

The talks will be followed by a discussion panel and the chance for attendees to network over light refreshments.

At other 3M sites, employees are invited to attend lunch and learn sessions to tune into motivational talks, followed by a group discussion and the chance to take part in a ‘catalyst for change’ quiz.

Said Reputation communications manager Ros Smith: “These events are also an opportunity to find out more about 3M Lean In Circles – or informal groups that meet regularly so that individuals can learn and develop together. We have a thriving network of Lean In Circles at 3M with a broad range of activities planned for 2017 including career talks, guest speakers and networking lunches.”
