3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape GTE6215 is a 1.5 mm thick, medium density, grey foamed acrylic adhesive characterised by very high peel and shear adhesion to automotive surfaces.

3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape GTE6212 is a gray, double-coated acrylic foam tape designed for the attachment of automotive exterior trim parts. It is engineered to provide final adhesion and holding power to a variety of automotive paints and substrates, making it suitable for demanding exterior applications where reliable long-term attachment is required. The tape features AR7 adhesive on the liner side, which is designed to provide extra adhesion to many medium surface energy substrates as well as a variety of automotive clear coat systems. Typical applications may include the attachment of exterior parts such as body side moldings, sill moldings, pillars, inserts, and emblems. Its viscoelastic acrylic foam core helps accommodate shrinkage and elongation of plastic parts caused by temperature changes. This stress relaxation capability supports durable bond performance when components are exposed to movement, dimensional variation, or high stress loads. At the same time, the tape conforms well to complex geometries and helps maintain bond-line aesthetics under normal stress conditions. 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape GTE6215 provides good initial adhesion, often allowing immediate further processing without temporary support or fixtures. Its wide operating temperature range from -40degC to +90degC supports process optimization, as the tape can be applied to plastic substrates before the paint process. The tape is suitable for many manual and automated application processes and meets OEM requirements for temperature, weather, and solvent resistance. By enabling reliable exterior trim attachment without changes to the vehicle body configuration, 3M™ Acrylic Foam Tape GTE6215 supports greater design freedom and allows vehicle models to be differentiated more easily through changes in trim design and materials.
