3M™ Silicon Carbide Seal Rings for Rotary Unions are designed for long life and high performance under high speeds and extreme conditions. For such challenging applications, we use 3M silicon carbide, which exhibits outstanding abrasion and wear resistance as well as thermal and chemical resistance.

The key to high speeds: 3M silicon carbide seal rings have a low specific density (2.80 - 3.20 g/cm³ depending on the material grade.) Speeds of up to 50,000 RPM can be achieved due to the low density, high mechanical strength and high stiffness of the material.
