In Mumbai, the power company needed to level up electric capacity to keep pace with growing demand. But it had to be done using existing infrastructure.
The goal was accomplished with a new kind of cable called 3M Aluminium Conductor Composite Reinforced, or ACCR.
3M ACCR derives its strength and durability from its core, which is made of aluminium oxide fibres embedded in high-purity aluminium.
This means the power company can send a lot more electricity without bigger or more numerous lines.
