To create the most energy efficient signage solution for a rebranding project, financial giant Santander chose a translucent film from 3M combined with LED lights.
When Santander decided to unify all of its Spanish commercial brands under one name it meant new signage for 1,400 retail branches.
Santander had already made the transition from traditional lighting with fluorescent tubes to signs illuminated by LEDs to reduce electricity use and the addition of 3M™ Envision™ Translucent Film Series 3730 has created further energy savings.
These durable films from 3M are designed with a low gloss surface to optimise the brightness of the LEDs and remove hot spots and glare for a uniform illumination. This reduces the number of LEDs needed, lowering power consumption and overall running costs without compromising the brand appearance of the signs both day and night.
Santander estimates that this signage project will deliver energy savings of €4 million over 10 years as well as a reduction in CO² emissions.
The translucent film is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications and available in a wide range of colours, including customised shades, for vibrant, brighter signs with high visual definition at lower cost.
