We have worked diligently to reduce any impact to you. We encourage you to review the changes and assess whether you need to make changes to your processes or systems

Documents- New, consistent formatting
- Document numbers such as invoice numbers and credit memo numbers are now numeric and non-sequential
- New fields appear on many documents

Order Numbering- Order number is assigned at order entry
- Delivery number is added to shipments
- Invoice number added at billing rather than at order entry

Order Dating- Any date a customer sends will be used as a requested delivery date
- Order dating from non-deployed sites may initially show TBD (to be determined) until updated by site
- New delivery dating fields

3M ID Numbers- Additional 10-digit 3M ID is added to documents and labels
- Customers may continue to use the 11-digit 3M ID, UPC, 3M Catalog Number and/or Customer Part Number. For abrasives materials, continue to use SPID Number, SPR Number and/or SPID UPC

Why did I receive a communication regarding 3M’s ERP implementation?
You will be experiencing some changes to your documents as we implement a new ERP system.

Does the ERP implementation affect all my orders?
This implementation covers orders you send directly to 3M.

What changes should I expect to see?
Please refer to the ERP Reference Guide which can be obtained from your Sales Representative/ Please note that much will stay the same – you can still order using the same product numbers and we will continue to provide the same documents, however the format, numbering and fields may change.

What do I need to do?
We have worked diligently to reduce impact to you. In addition, we encourage you to review the 3M ERP Reference Guide to determine if there are changes that may impact you specifically. As we transition to our new system, please anticipate a short downtime and plan your orders accordingly. You will receive ongoing communication with updates around timing.

When will the Go Live date be confirmed?
We will confirm our plan 6-8 weeks prior to deployment.

How much extra inventory should I hold or recommendation on process to add inventory?
3M can provide information to support your purchasing decision. Please circle back to your 3M Sales Representative.

When do we start inventory planning with you?
Once you have established your business continuity plan needs, we can work with you on any questions you may have.

Will product be returnable in the event it is not used?
3M will not accept returns for excess inventory. Please expect to have your own continuity plan address any additional purchased inventory.

How long is your ramp up period? How long will the service be affected? How long will you be down?
There is a short shipping shutdown period of about a week as we transition to our system. Shipping will resume immediately and will ramp up in the days and weeks following Go Live, depending on site. We will work with you on continuity plans to minimize potential business impacts.

What service issues do you anticipate?
We anticipate very few service issues; however we will have a period of less than a week where we will not be able to ship. This is why we are engaging in business continuity discussions with you to ensure your business needs are addressed.
