We would like to introduce our first candidate for this year's EuroSkills™ competition in Göteborg. Lisa from team Austria is an excellent painter and we can expect a lot from her, as she already has a few Gold medals in her collection! Being 24 years old, she is one of our oldest competitors. Lisa has been working in gastronomy and studied foreign languages - until she helped out in her dad's painting company and quickly realized that this is the job she always wanted to do.

Preparation

"If you have the opportunity just once, you really want to make sure you have done all you can to perform at your best."

Lisa is using all her free time and weekends to prepare for EuroSkills - "because if you have set a goal that you want to achieve, like winning the competition, you have to give everything." Also the weekly trainings with her mentor, Michael, are highly important to Lisa. As she explained to us: "It's just nice to be able to learn from someone with such good experience and who is actually able to explain and teach new techniques in a way that enables me to understand and adapt. Without Michael all of this would have never been possible." We are convinced - your hard work will pay off!

Of course we support Lisa as much as possible in her preparations. Lisa's mentor Michael has been standing by her side from the first competition and the two form an amazing team. He is functioning as a control person to evaluate her work and give suggestions for improvement. We asked Michael about his work with this EuroSkills candidate and he told us about the difficulty to find the right candidates, who also have the ambition to invest private time into practice and who are really committed to their tasks.
