    • Stefan Chistè (Italy)

Stefan is a 24 year old Floor Layer from Italy, who made it his absolute goal to take home the gold from this year's EuroSkills™ competition. In 2012 he competed in the national competition, where he passed each test with flying colors. This year he wants to see how his skills stack up against Europe's best. He's very appreciative of what the EuroSkills competition has done for him and wants to become a mentor in the future. "I would love to guide new competitors and help them with what I've learned from my experiences".

      Expectations

"I want to win. Easy as that."

Stefan participated and won the Landesmeisterschaft of Südtirol in 2012. After that, he competed in a European Championship in the Czech Republic and placed fourth. This year, he's going for the gold. "Because of my neatness, accuracy and my dexterity, I really think I can win. I have a great trainer who found the right approach of teaching me. And of course, my friends and family. Their support helps me focus."

      Preparation

"I have a great trainer, who found the right approach of teaching. I learn a lot from him and have definitely profited from our training sessions."

To prepare for the upcoming EuroSkills competition, Stefan meets two to three times a week with his mentor, Andreas. They practice with the example that will also be used in Göteborg. Stefan first tries it himself and then evaluates his work with his mentor. "Together we evaluate what I did, the mistakes that I made and how I can improve them".

      Mentor statement

"During the training, Stefan is doing what he is supposed to do very responsibly, but sometimes he works too fast so his results are not as accurate as they could be. Therefore we are now especially focusing on neatness and accuracy in our training sessions."

Stefan's mentor Andreas has great confidence in his student. Due to the great results in earlier competitions, he is expecting Stefan to be one of the best candidates in Gothenburg. As Andreas explained himself: "Of course we would be very happy with a medal, but we also don't want Stefan to feel pressured and enjoy his time in Gothenburg. He knows that he is well prepared and since he already is 25, his age might be an advantage too as he doesn't get easily nervous anymore."
