3M™ Silicon Carbide Sliding Bearings are commonly used in industrial and process pump applications for hermetically sealed centrifugal pumps and stirrers.

Different types of silicon carbide materials address specific application challenges:3M™ Silicon Carbide Grade F: the standard material with high hardness and good corrosion resistance3M™ Silicon Carbide Grade C: the most corrosion-resistant material with high hardness and good tribological properties3M™ Silicon Carbide Grade G: the material with highest corrosion-resistant outstanding tribological properties Due to the specific properties of sintered silicon carbide materials, 3M silicon carbide sliding bearings can operate in hot and deionised water, acids and strong alkalis. If there is a risk of dry running, the bearings can also be coated with DLC (=diamond-like carbon) or PCD (=Poly Crystaline Diamond).
