3M™ Dual Brightness Enhancement Film (DBEF) is a family of polymer-based multilayer optical films that have polycarbonate laminated to both sides that manage the polarization output of light from LCD backlights. It is a reflective polarizer film that improves polarization efficiency by transmitting one polarization state and reflecting the other, recycling light back into the system, which increases brightness over a wide viewing angle. The increase in efficiency enabled by 3M polarization control can be used to offset key variables like energy consumption and thermal load in LCD applications.
