3M™ Silicon Nitride Gas Seal Rings help minimize leakage and maintenance in gas-lubricated seals. Additionally, these rings have high mechanical strength which enable higher speeds and enhanced reliability. Due to its light weight and high surface finish, 3M™ Silicon Nitride is an excellent material choice for gas seal rings.
Used for sealing turbo/gas compressors, 3M™ Silicon Nitride Gas Seal Rings operate on the basis of the contact-free relative movement of the rotor and stator at extremely high speeds and with a minimum sealing gap. Microstructures introduced into the running surface provide the 'air cushion' that allows contact-free rotation. This helps you minimize leakage and reduce or eliminate the need for seal ring maintenance in your application.
