3M™ Visible-light Reflective Cover (VRC) is a polymer-based multilayer optical film that’s laminated to a polycarbonate substrate. It is an automotive reflective polarizer mirror film that improves polarization efficiency by transmitting one polarization state and reflecting the other, recycling light back into the system, which increases brightness over a wide viewing angle. This increase in efficiency can be used to offset battery consumption and more in LCD applications. This film is used in head-up display (HUD) applications, specifically the cover, to provide high brightness for the projected image while reducing undesired visible light sources projected back to the picture-generating unit (PGU) through the HUD assembly.
