3M™ Cold Shrink EPDM Insulator 38.1/223/123.8 is our open-ended, tubular rubber insulating sleeve, which is factory expanded and assembled on a removable plastic core. Simply prepare the connection, position the tube and unwind the core.

For quick and simple field installation use the pre-stretched 3M™ Cold Shrink EPDM Insulator 38.1/223/123.8. Our insulator is created for primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric (rubber and plastic) insulated wire and cable splices rated to 1000 V; insulation of secondary splices, copper or aluminium conductors and inline conductor transition connectors; and dig-in and sheath repairs. It’s designed using our unique Cold Shrink delivery system and is supplied pre-stretched on a removable core for quick and easy installation. Unwinding and removing the core after positioning allows the sleeve to shrink into position, forming a moisture-tight seal. The live memory action of the specially formulated material ensures a permanent, durable environmental seal and insulation. It requires no tools, torches or heat for installation and is suitable for direct burial or submersion in indoor, outdoor and overhead use. The insulator has good thermal stability, excellent wet electrical properties and resists acids, alkalis, ozone and ultraviolet (UV) light. It’s waterproof, meeting water seal requirements of ANSI C119.1. The EPDM rubber contains no chlorides and sulphurs.

Suggested applications
  • Primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric (rubber and plastic) insulated wire and cable splices
  • Insulation of secondary splices copper or aluminium conductors and inline conductor transition connectors
