Voting is now open for the prestigious Data Centre Solutions awards that recognise excellence from product designers, manufacturers and suppliers operating in the data centre arena.

This year there are a total of 26 categories - providing a wide range of options for both vendors and their business partners to take part – and individuals working for neutral businesses are encouraged to vote for their favourite project.

Bryland is one of four companies nominated in the Data Centre Physical Security and Fire Suppression Product of the Year category. Its innovative fire suppression system designed by Kidde Fire Protection using Novec 1230 fluid was created for a data centre in Woking, Surrey, to protect critical assets from fire and damage.

Novec 1230 fluid is a safe, more sustainable alternative to inert gas, HFCs, water mist and CO² based fire suppression systems. The fluid works quickly, cleanly and efficiently to help stop a fire before it starts and comes with a 20-year Blue Sky™ Warranty that protects against furegulatory bans or restrictions.

As well as meeting new industry regulations phasing out the use of HFCs, Novec 1230 fluid is fast acting, non-conductive, non-corrosive and evaporates quickly so, unlike water-based systems, it does not damage electronics and other critical assets. It also has zero ozone depletion potential and a global warming potential of one and stays in the atmosphere for just five days.

The shortlisted system was installed by Bryland's in-house team and consists of 56 cylinders housing more than 6,000 kg of Novec 1230 fluid. Each cylinder has its own intricate pipework system and discharging nozzles, designed to protect the data centre 24/7.

Voting closes on 22 April and the awards ceremony takes place on 12 May 2016.
