The Benefits of Winning Abrasive Combinations

Winning abrasive combinations bring together our best abrasive technologies to help you succeed from start to finish. The product pairing recommendations come straight from our technical application engineers, who have hands-on experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in abrasive processing. Pairing the right abrasives together can result in a winning combination that optimises productivity, helps increase safety, and delivers high-quality results for your metalworking project.

    • Uses Re-Engineered Precision Shaped Grain, a proprietary technology designed with sharp, angular structures that continuously fracture to form sharp points to wear evenly, run cool, and optimise mineral breakdown.
    • Delivers up to 51% faster initial cut rate and up to 61% faster sustained cut rate compared to the 3M™ Cubitron™ II Fibre Disc 982C, 36+.
    • A stiff fibre backing and strong resin bond provide durability and tear resistance for heavy grinding applications, such as medium to high-pressure grinding, weld removal, and bevelling — including robotic operations.
    • Requires less pressure to use, enabling predictable wear while helping to reduce metal discolouration and the risk of stress cracks on mild or carbon steels.

    Applications include:

    • High pressure flat weld grinding or bevelling
    • Heavy stock removal
    • Up to 3X faster cut-rate on aluminium and 40% longer life on stainless steel compared to leading competition.
    • Built with 3M Precision-Shaped Grain to deliver an aggressive cut while the conformable nonwoven web helps protect against gouging.
    • These multipurpose discs offer an expanded grade range to cover a large range of applications and remove a final step to help boost productivity.

    Applications include:

    • Remove imperfections and merge the repaired section.
    • Grade XXCRS (60+) on mild steel processes 3X more parts than competitive premium nonwoven abrasives (based on 3M internal testing).
    • Grade XXCRS lasts 2X longer on mild steel compared to competitive premium nonwoven abrasives (based on 3M internal testing) — while offering edge durability and shape retention during edge wear.
    • Designed for high-pressure applications, such as grinding, deburring, edge breaking, blending, and refining.
    • Scotch-Brite™ nonwoven fibres combined with 3M Precision-Shaped Grain deliver improved performance over traditional surface conditioning discs.
    • For hard-to-reach places, use our Roloc™ attachment type.
