How to choose welding helmets?
1. What type of welding do you do?

Most welding helmets are designed to meet specific needs.
A heavy-duty scenario may require additional protection but may result in a heavier solution. On the other hand, a lightweight welding helmet in a heavy-duty scenario with disposable respirator may call for additional protection.

2. Type of welding filter: Passive welding filter: Fixed shade. Suitable for consistent welding tasks. Auto-Darkening welding filter with variable shade setting: Automatically switches from dark to light when an arc is struck. The shade can be adjusted based on the welding application and personal preference. Perfect for diverse welding conditions. 3M Speedglas is the inventor of the auto darkening welding filter and offers a wide range of different models with different features and benefits.

3. Shade Range: Make sure the welding helmet provides an appropriate shade range for the types of welding you plan to perform.

4. Viewing Area: Larger viewing areas offer improved visibility and view comfort. Choose the size of the welding filter based on your preferences and the tasks you undertake.
5. Sensitivity and Delay settings: Auto-darkening welding filters typically feature adjustable sensitivity and delay settings. I need help to connect my 3M Speedglas welding filter to the APP
To connect your 3M Speedglas Generation 5 Welding Filter to the APP, follow these general steps. Please note that specific instructions may vary depending on the model of your welding filter and the APP version, so it's always advisable to refer to the user manual or official resources for detailed guidance.

1. Download the App: Make sure you have the latest APP installed on your smartphone or tablet. You can find it in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store by searching for the 3M Equipment APP.

2. Enable Bluetooth: Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile device. This is necessary for pairing the welding filter with the APP.

3. Power On the Welding Filter: Ensure your 3M Speedglas welding filter is powered on (auto ON when moving the welding filter) and within range of your mobile device.

4. Open the APP and activate pairing mode: Follow the instructions specific to your welding filter model to activate Bluetooth pairing mode, which typically involves pressing certain buttons on the welding filter. Then, follow the instructions in the APP.

5. Pair the Devices: In the APP, find the option to add or connect a new device. Select your welding helmet and then your welding filter from the list of available devices.

6. Follow On-Screen Instructions: The APP may provide additional instructions or prompts to complete the pairing process. Follow these carefully.

7. Confirm Connection: Once connected, you should be able to access and adjust settings on your welding filter via the APP.
