A BMW 3 Series was on display at 3M’s head office in Bracknell, Berkshire, for the vehicle wrapping event and Michael showed how it could be personalised using 3M Wrap Film Series 1380 in a series of live demonstrations.

This new generation of vehicle wrap film is highly conformable and can be applied to even deeply recessed areas without needing to be cut or patched.

Said 3M marketing assistant Emma Tops: “Our 1380 film is the first to feature 3M’s next generation Controltac Technology that optimises the initial tack so that the film can be easily repositioned until the exact position is achieved.”

In addition, Martin Rodgers from William Smith used a Fiat 500 to show how Ventureshield Paint Protection Film from 3M can protect vehicles from stone chips and scratches.

During a workshop session, 3M industrial engineer Tim Beyer and Gill Harrison from William Smith explained how 3M technologies enable vehicle wrappers to achieve a bubble-free, smooth finish and then hosted a Q&A session.

Delegates also enjoyed a tour of the 3M Customer Innovation Centre and took part in a fiercely contested Scalextric competition, with the fastest competitor winning a free place on a William Smith wrapping course.

In the fifth session the attendees watched Gavin Swallow from Swallow Applications expertly wrap a van using 3M™ Envision™ Print Wrap Film SV480Cv3. This PVC-free film is manufactured with no added chlorine or halogens and using 58 per cent less solvents than conventional films.

Added Emma: “The event was a great way to introduce vehicle applicators to a wide range of 3M wrap films and to share some industry techniques with them. We gave delegates the chance to play around with the products themselves, showing how they can avoid common pitfalls and transform any vehicle.”
