The 3M sol-gel products provide surface treatment and adhesion enhancement performance on metal substrates on par with conventional chemical etch and anodize systems. Enables “on-wing” surface preparation for metal bond applications for challenging substrates such as aluminum, titanium, nickel and stainless steel. Complimentary to 3M corrosion inhibiting bond primers such as EW-5005 and EC-3917.
3M corrosion inhibiting bond primers ensure long term durability for the bonded substrates. These products are available in conventional solvent based chromated versions as well as water based chromated and non-chromated versions. They are compatible with both conventional etch and anodize surface preparations as well as grit blast–sol gel.
3M structural adhesives are designed for high pre-bond humidity performance, fracture toughness and peel strength on metals and composites, with flexible cure cycles.

3M core splice adhesive films are low density structural adhesives that expand to a high strength, low density foam with heat. They are generally used to splice honeycomb cores of differing cell sizes as well as other vertical bonding applications.

3M Cocure films provide durable erosion protection for composite surfaces and are compatible with heated, de-ice systems. These films can protect the leading edge of the engine nacelle inlet from rain erosion and minor impact damage.
3M urethane repair pastes are used to quickly repair polyurethane erosion films on parts, eliminating the need to remove and replace the film. These two-part pastes cure to erosion-resistant urethane elastomers and provide long-lasting protection from further damage.
3M low-density void-filling compounds can be used to fill cavities and perform as fan track abradable in engine applications.
3M paint replacement fluoropolymer films are inherently resistant to most aircraft fluids and environmental effects. Used inside nacelles, these films can prevent moisture ingression and aircraft fluid uptake into nacelle honeycomb panels.
3M polyurethane protective boots provide excellent erosion and impact protection for many aircraft parts and can be created to fit a wide variety of needs. Our portfolio of products includes complex inlet boots, such as F-16 engine inlet and C-130 air-conditioning inlet.
